After receiving a stern warning from Adobe for the similarity of its logo to Adobe's,
the gaming emulator Delta has made waves in the world of technology and
design with a new logo that resembles a broken triangle. Delta's creator, Riley
Testut, explained in detail how the events unfolded. According to Testut, on May 7,
Adobe's lawyers sent Delta an email demanding that they change their existing
logo. This polite but firm request conveyed a message that contained no words of
infringement or threats of litigation. Adobe stated that they believed Delta had no
intention of creating confusion among consumers or infringing Adobe's rights.
Adobe gave Delta until May 17 to respond. But a day later, on May 8, Testut
received an email from Apple. It said that Adobe had reached out to Apple
alleging that Delta had infringed its intellectual property rights, which could put the
Delta app at risk.
Testut responded to both Apple and Adobe on these developments. “We stated
that our icon is a stylized delta symbol, not a stylized letter A, but we still said we
would update the Delta logo to avoid confusion,” he said. He added that the Delta
team is still working on a new logo, so the icon you see in the App Store is only a
temporary solution. “Both the App Store and AltStore versions have been updated
with this temporary icon, but our final logo will be available with Delta 1.6,” Testut
added.
AltStore's post read as follows: “This new icon is designed by Caroline Moore, we
hope you love it as much as we do.”
According to Testut, the final logo to be used with Delta 1.6 will also be designed by
Caroline Moore. He also said that they are not too concerned about brand impact.
Delta's quick and effective creation of a new logo seems to have pleased both its
users and the tech world. Thus, Delta has successfully turned the crisis into an
opportunity.
