As of April 1, 2026, Türkiye’s 5G journey has moved beyond being a project on paper and has transformed into a live ecosystem gradually rolling out across all 81 provinces. Today, 5G in Türkiye does not just mean "faster internet"; it is positioned as the key to a broad digital transformation extending from industry to transportation.
The process is being carried out using a Non-Standalone (NSA) model that works integrated with the existing 4.5G infrastructure. This allows for rapid expansion of coverage area, with the goal of providing full capacity coverage to all residential areas within the next two years.
The current infrastructure increases data transfer speeds by an average of 10 times compared to 4.5G, allowing users to download massive amounts of data in seconds. Operators (Turkcell, Türk Telekom, Vodafone) are working to quickly increase the ratio of 5G-compatible devices through campaigns such as "5x more internet" or "unlimited daily packages" to encourage this transition.
Türkiye’s 5G strategy is based not only on consumer speed but also on the goal of "local and national infrastructure." The primary motivations of this era are:
Increasing the localization rate in critical network components.
Protecting data sovereignty.
Benefiting from low latency in areas such as autonomous vehicles (like Togg), smart factories, and remote healthcare services.
5G is seen not just as a communication technology for Türkiye, but as an economic power that will trigger the Industry 4.0 transformation. The digitalization of ports, mines, and production facilities through private networks has begun to play a critical role in increasing Türkiye’s global competitiveness.
5G in Türkiye is no longer a promise; it is a tangible technological reality supported by local production targets, spreading across 81 provinces and integrating into every aspect of life.
